The first public benefits workshop for the RRF Grant FY23 covering DuPage, Will, Kane, and Kendall counties was held at Naperville ADS. 80 seniors were in attendance in person. The program started with an introduction to the RRF Grant by Radhika Subramanian who is the Public Benefits Coordinator at the Naperville MAFS location. Mrs. Urvashi Bhatt, Public Benefits Specialist at MAFS Elgin and Carol Stream location, gave a very effective presentation on important federal/state benefits- like Medicaid, SNAP, Medicare, Social Security Retirement Benefits, Supplemental Income, Free Phones, utility assistance, etc. This year we added a new feature to the workshop- interactive “case scenario” sessions which were conceived and executed by the Niles team. This new segment was very well received by the Seniors. They participated eagerly and were extremely thankful to have gained a practical understanding of public benefits. Finally, the floor was opened to Questions, and they were answered by the whole MAFS public benefits team. Founder and Executive Director of MAFS Dr. Mrs. Santosh Kumar also took great interest in answering some of the seniors’ queries. The workshop was a tremendous success!
