2014 Annual Fundraiser

Metropolitan Asian Family Services’ celebrated its 22nd annual fundraising dinner with excitement, entertainment and an award ceremony on September 13, 2014 at India House, Schaumburg, Illinois.

The celebration started with a traditional deep lightning ceremony performed by Pt. Choodaman Pathak of Radhey Shyam Temple and was followed by a Ganesh Vandana dance performance by students of the Mudra Dance Academy.

Prominent dignitaries in attendance were Toni Preckwinkle, Cook County Board President, Paul Vallas, Democratic Lt. Governor Candidate, Dr. Ausaf Sayeed, Consul General of India, Chicago, Rep. Michelle Mussman, Gayle A. Smolinski, Roselle Mayor, Rodney S. Craig, Hanover Park Mayor, Dr.

Hemlata Bakane, President of IAMA, Sonia Bhagwakar from IDOA, Sher Mohammad Rajput, Indo American Center Board Member, Nand Kapoor, former President Association of Indian in America, Anees Chaudhary, Treasurer of the AMU Alumni Association of Greater Chicago, and other community leaders and business supporters including seniors and their families. Dr. Ausaf Sayeed, Consul General of India, commended the MAFS team for doing an extraordinary job in serving and caring for the elderly and other immigrant populations in Chicagoland.
