India Independence Day Celebrations
Indians worldwide celebrated India’s 77th Independence Day by gathering at the India Day Parade, exchanging greetings, and singing the national anthem and patriotic songs. MAFS/UMAS had a float during the Devon Parade and our seniors showcased Mahatma Gandhiji and his wife Kasturba became the highlight. Dr. Santosh Kumar also participated along with her staff. Our senior centers also celebrated Independence Day with joy and happiness where some of our seniors performed solo acts of Rani Laxmibai, Kasturba, and Sarojini Naidu. They also did flag hoisting by the center’s managers and sang the famous Gandhi ji’s bhajan.
