CLESE Annual Dinner
CLESE is the ethnic provider of vital services and programs to minority older adults with the mission to improve the lives of limited-English-speaking older adults through leadership, education, and advocacy. The Annual member’s meeting/dinner for the Coalition of limited English-speaking elderly (CLESE) was organized on November 16th at URHAI Community service center. From our organization, Mrs. Santosh Kumar, Mr. Prashant Kumar, Mr. Sagar Kumar, Awilda Gonzalez, and Jahnavi Bavisi were present at the event. Paula Basta, the Director of the Illinois Department on Aging (IDoA), was awarded the ‘2022 CLESE Champion of Older Adults Award’ by the Seniors of various member agencies. From MAFS our seniors Mrs. Daksha Shah and Mrs. Uma Prabhakar presented the Award. Mrs. Shah and Mrs. Prabhakar also had an opportunity to share how much thankful they are to MAFS and UMAS for the services we provide. CLESE President – our own executive director Mrs. Santosh Kumar donated $5000 (announced by Marta Pereyra- Executive Director of CLESE). Mr. Prashant and Mr. Sagar gave a presentation about a software called EVV (Electronic Visit Verification) by Verveware on how technology helps serve seniors. The EVV software is a user-friendly platform to manage clients’ and home care workers’ schedules, tasks, etc. easily. The presentation and the idea of the software were much appreciated by Paula Basta and all the attendees. Dr. John Holton, Director of Strategic Initiatives, Jane Addams College of Social Work, UIC talked about the marginal population.
