On 7th November 2023, MAFS proudly inaugurated the Hot Meals dine-in program at its Naperville site in the presence of our Executive Director Dr. Santosh Kumar, and many other officials and dignitaries. The Chief Guest was Mr. Scott Wehrli, the Mayor of Naperville. Also in attendance were the Chief of Staff of Senator Ellman’s office, Alderwoman Shweta Baid, Indian Community Outreach Chairperson Mr. Krishna Bansal, Judge Linda Davenport, Age Guide CEO Marla Fronczak and other Age Guide representatives. The Mayor of Naperville thanked MAFS for starting such a wonderful program in the Naperville location and emphasized its importance for ethnically diverse communities. He spent a lot of time interacting with the seniors and served their meals! All the other officials hailed MAFS for its efforts in bringing such a program to get seniors out of their homes to assemble and eat meals.

Roshita Pandey, Grants Director of MAFS shared important data and statistics about DuPage County which indicated a huge need for an ethnic dine-in program in the area. She informed everyone that the program was funded by Age Guide and DuPage County residents 60 and above are eligible for it. This was followed by an invocatory dance by Phalguni Rana, a senior who proved age has no restrictions. A group of Naperville Adult Day Care seniors performed a dance depicting the various states of India and the unity among the community despite diverse languages and cultural differences and thanked our Founder Director for taking care of the ethnic aging community. Our Founder Director got emotional in her speech when saying that food binds us together. We had over 35 seniors eating our delicious and nutritive food on inauguration day along with all the invited officials. There was a raffle with exciting prizes and finally, the ribbon cutting ceremony followed by a very sumptuous lunch. The event MC was MAFS Public Benefits Specialist Radhika Subramanian.
